Four Steps to Researching Your Medical Question

Anyone can use this — including if you've never used AI before. You'll walk out with a plain-language summary and a question list to bring to your next doctor's appointment.

AI can help you understand and prepare. It cannot examine you, and it doesn't know your full history. Anything it tells you is a starting point for a conversation with your doctor — never a stand-in for one.

Before you continue: open one of these in a second browser tab, so you can keep this page's instructions visible while you type there.

Free accounts just need an email address to sign up — that's normal. Any of the three works fine for this.

Step 2: Make Your Question Specific

Fill in a few details below. Grace will put them into a ready-to-paste message for whichever AI tool you opened.

Why Step 2 Starts With "Act As..."This is called role prompting — one of the simplest ways to get a better answer out of any AI tool. Telling the AI what role to take before you ask your question shapes how it responds: a vague question gets a vague, sometimes alarming, answer; the same question with a role attached gets an answer that stays organized, informative, and appropriately careful. It's not a medical-specific trick — it works for any AI question. Once it feels natural, try it elsewhere: "Act as a financial educator," "Act as a travel planner." The skill carries over.

Keep this general — a first name is fine, but skip your last name, address, or other details that could identify you. Nothing you type here is saved or sent anywhere; it only goes into the document you download at the end.

Adding this means it'll be included in your downloadable takeaway at the end. You can skip it if you'd rather not.

Step 3: Ask How Confident to Be

AI tools often sound equally sure of themselves whether they're right or wrong. This one question checks that, every time — ask it in the same conversation as before.

As the research analyst, how confident should I be in this? What would make this wrong?
Copied!

Paste it into the same AI conversation, read the answer, then come back here.

Step 4: Write Down What You Found

Two short notes, in your own words. This isn't a report — it's what you'll bring with you.

Keep this general — a first name is fine, but skip your last name, address, or other details that could identify you. Nothing you type here is saved or sent anywhere; it only goes into the document you download at the end.
